Hans

Special Considerations for Adoption

Hans crossed the rainbow bridge on Friday afternoon, May 31 at 3:49pm. He will be laid to rest in his foster’s butterlfy garden.  Rest in peace Hans, knowing you were well loved.

Hi there my name is Hans. I’m a middle aged fellow that looks older than I really am. I have to apologize for my clumsiness ahead of time but I’m such a big boy that I get in my own way. That doesn’t stop me from trying though as I am young at heart and, fortunatley for my foster family, I don’t run in the house. I love to play fetch, tug of war and wrestle with my foster dad in the grass. I will run and get a toy and even play with it by myself by throwing it in the air and catching it before it lands. That is really fun and you can watch that video here http://youtu.be/G0KWvL4sLSs. Then I will bring it to you for a game of tug. I can usually only play for about 20 minutes though and then I prefer a nap. I love to lay at your feet no matter where you are and always let out a loud exhausted moan as I make my way to the ground. My foster parents say that I am super intelligent. I know sit, down, come, stay, stop, no, shake and I immediately come when I hear my name called. You can watch a video of some of that here http://youtu.be/jiguj3ta-n4.You have to say my name loud though as I have a bit of a hard time hearing you. I’ve had an ear infection for quite some time now and have to go regularly to the vet to have them checked and treated. I am heart worm positive and because I had such a hard life before I came to the rescue, I have to do a once a month treatment. This will take a bit of time to get rid of but I am getting stronger and stronger every day. I used to only be able to jog slowly in the yard but now I can actually run and I am loving every minute of it. I have a beautiful coat, as you can tell. Or, should I say, what coat I have is beautiful. I was bald on my chest, stomach and a portion of my back when I was rescued. None of us are really sure what caused it but with regular bathing and a little TLC it is starting to fill in quite nicely. Fortunately, I LOVE baths and will moan and groan, and sometimes even dance back and forth, as you bathe me. My foster mom says that is the best part of the bath and, considering my size, I think she says a thank you prayer at the end of it every time. I know that you will love me if you meet me. I am as loyal and faithful as they come and will never let you down. Would you give an old guy a chance? I sure hope so because I can’t wait to have a family of my own to love and protect. Thanks for looking and I’ll be patiently waiting for you.
