Hi, my name is Valentina, but my foster family calls me “Val” for short.  I’m looking for my forever home where I can settle down with a family who won’t mind if I lean on them a little, and love them a lot.

I am a mom. I was abandoned, and my babies were taken away, which left me very sad.  I’m now with my foster family.  They are showing me so much love that they tell me I am getting that sparkle back in my eyes, and I’m learning to enjoy playing again.

Everyone says I’m really calm, but there is another dog in the home where I am staying, and she’s young and a lot crazy if you ask me.  We get along very well now, but it took us a few days to warm up to each other.  Now we're very good friends.  I can be very happy in a home where there are other dogs, but I do need time to get to know my new canine companions.  On the alternative, I would be very happy as the only dog in the family.  Either way works for me! There are other fellow canines around me.  They live next door, so I sniff them at the fence. We get along okay until they bark at me. I’ve growled back at them a few times and we all get told off.  I don’t like to be in trouble, and I accept that it isn’t polite to growl.  I know, with time and experience with each other, we'll all get along just fine.

I don’t mind being in my kennel when necessary, and go outside to do my lady business.  I enjoy walks, and don’t pull on the leash.  I like to take  slow, easy walks, and not go too far, as I still get tired quickly.  My foster mom has been very pleased because my energy is definitely coming back.  I admit I don’t like to be hot.  Indoors in the air conditioning, near my people, relaxing on a nice, comfy bed is where I love to be!

I know I’ve already come a long way in the short time I’ve been with my foster family.  They are teaching me words such as sit, stay, and lay down.  If I get it right, I get something delicious to eat called a "treat."  The lay down command is the best because I get tummy rubs!  Oh how I love tummy  rubs!  I love ear scratches, too.

I’m a big girl, and I know I can’t be a lapdog, so I’m content to just lay my head on your lap if you’ll let me.  I’m a softy for your attention and will return your love with devoted looks, cuddles, and lots of kisses.  I'm ready to meet my forever family.  I know I'll be the perfect dog for someone who values my calm personality and utter devotion to my people.  Please come meet me and let me show you just how wonderful and loving I am!
