There is usually an adjustment period when a new dog joins the family. This period can be short or long, depending on the dog and his background.  The adjustment period with Springer just did not happen.  He walked in to my house and immediately adjusted himself to my home and my life.  It honestly felt like he had always been my dog.  No accidents in the house, no tearing anything up, no problem with excessive barking.  He is a good eater, and not the least bit picky.  He loves treats and takes them gently from my hand.  He is easy going and gets along great with other large dogs.  He is not at all quarrelsome, but he knows how to hold his own.  Springer is crate trained, but I don't crate him because he's so good.  I can leave him home with my own GSD  and he doesn't bother anything.  He loves toys of all types, but especially squeaky toys and balls. Springer thinks a ball that squeaks is the greatest fun ever!  He loves it when you throw a ball or toy for him.  He is so cute, joyfully scampering after it like a puppy!

I get the feeling that Springer had a really rough life, as he arrived to us starving hungry, and terribly skinny.  I also get the feeling that he was not treated very kindly in his previous life.  He is shy when he first meets new people.  He puts his ears back and his head down, as if to say, "I really am a good boy.  Please don't hurt me."  Once he feels secure, he is so very sweet and gentle and so happy to be loved.  He doesn't take anything you do for him for granted, and is so truly grateful for everything good in his life now.  He was named Springer because he was rescued the day after the Astros won the World Series in 2017.  What other name could we give him but Springer?  (We're still waiting for his World Series ring!)

Springer comes immediately when I call.  He loves to play outside, especially "fetch," but when I go inside he always wants to go with me. He is never far from my side, and always wants to be where he can see me.  My favorite thing about Springer is how affectionate and loving he is.  This big boy loves to cuddle!  Are you the type of person who likes to be close to your dog, and pet him and snuggle with him?  Springer loves to give and receive affection.  He is blissfully happy when he gets a lot of petting and love. He is so happy and grateful to have a big, comfortable dog bed that lifts him up off the cold, hard floor.  When it's time to settle down for bed, he goes right to his dog bed and sleeps quietly all night without disturbing anyone.  Springer was the easiest dog to foster, and one of the most loving dogs I've ever met.  If you make him a part of your family, he will bring so much love and happiness into your home!
