Special Considerations for Adoption: *Roland will do best with older children only.  He needs the presence of another large dog to make him feel secure.

I am Roland’s foster mom, and I am so happy to introduce this wonderful boy to you! Roland is a very sweet, gentle, and gorgeous young male. He is a very easy going boy who gets along great with other dogs. He shares his foster home with older children and two other large dogs. Roland has fit in beautifully in our busy and active household.

Roland is one very smart guy. He is fun to work with, as he is quick to learn new skills and commands. Training is easy, as he loves treats and is a very motivated student. Roland and I recently completed an obedience class which helped him gain lots of confidence. I will be glad to demonstrate the commands and training techniques, so you can practice with him, and even extend his learning with new training opportunities. Training is a great way to bond with your dog, and since Roland already has the basics, you can make rapid progress as he has already "learned how to learn."

We are an active family, and Roland loves that. He really enjoys running. I ride my bicycle every day, and I have trained Roland to run along beside me on a leash. He absolutely loves to run as fast as I can peddle! He also loves playing outside with the garden hose, and LOVES swimming in the family pool. He especially enjoys retrieving toys that I throw in the water for him. He will bring his toy back as many times as I will throw it.

He is a classic velcro GSD who loves to be with people and follows me faithfully around the house. When he wants to rest, he likes to nap in his crate with the door open. At the end of the day, Roland loves to relax and enjoy family time. He is a superb snuggler and loves lounging on the sofa with his family while watching TV.

Roland’s ideal home would be with an active person who works from home, and likes to run or bike with him. His ideal home would also have someone who lets him cuddle on the sofa in the evening. Another dog in the family would make Roland so happy, as he really enjoys the company of another dog. Access to a pool would be a bonus, as he LOVES to swim. Roland was a runaway, and will most likely always have a tendency to slip out of unsecured doors or gates. However, as long as he is not left unattended, and has a securely fenced in yard, and attention is paid when opening front or side doors, Roland’s days as an escape artist should be far behind him. If he has another dog or human to spend the majority of his day with, he will be a happy boy.
