Special Considerations for Adoption:  *He has a gentle nature, so he can be taught to be gentle with kids. However, he has received very little training in his life so far, and he likes to explore everything with his mouth, so little hands may get nipped.

I am Oscar's foster mom, and I would love to tell you about this wonderful boy.  When I see Oscar standing at a distance, I think, "MAJESTIC!" When he comes close, I think, "SWEETHEART!" He is an easygoing, good-natured boy who needs someone who will give him daily love and affection. He craves that above all else. He will learn a new command for a treat, but what really motivates him is your approval and affection. He'll do anything for it. He loves to sit and watch TV with you. When you love on him, he'll lean his head on you or sometimes his whole body, just to get as much love as he can.

Oscar loves to run. He would enjoy a big yard with lots of room, but also someone to run with. He'd rather not run alone. Oscar is also very curious about everything. He loves our walks on the nature trails, with all the sights, smells, and sounds. He sees the bunny rabbits and squirrels and would love to chase them, but he responds well when told to "leave it" and moves on to the next interesting thing.

Can you tell from the photos that he is good-looking? Well, he is, and he knows it! He can't pass a mirror without stopping to check himself out. You'll need to hang an Oscar-height mirror for him.

Oscar would do best with an active family. If there is enough attention at home from the people, he can do fine as an only dog. But he is also getting along with his foster sister right now, so he can be added to your pack - no problem. He is very well-socialized. However, he was not an indoor pet before and has not been taught house manners. He is not yet housebroken and needs some basic obedience training. But don't let that discourage you! He learned to sit on command in less than five minutes. He is exceptionally smart and he wants your approval. Because of this, he would do best with an experienced dog owner who has the confidence and patience to teach him house manners.  Oscar is ready for his forever home.
