Special Considerations for Adoption:  *Kirk is recommended for older children only.

Hi, I'm Kirk's foster mom, and I'm so happy to tell you about this absolute full-of-energy doll face. It's hard to get a good picture of him because he's in constant play mode. For a young GSD, he's not as mouthy as I would expect. He's learned to sit on command, and wait in a seated position for his food to be given, albeit not that patiently as he's a talker and is sure to let you know he's sitting there! The very first day he growled at the adult GSDs in our house during feeding time, as if he thought he might need to protect his food. However, he quickly learned that food is bountiful around here. Now he and the other GSDs eat together just fine twice a day with snacks in between. He sleeps all night in a kennel with the pack and has not once had any problems. He still jumps up on people for attention, because he just wants to be loved. I would recommend Kirk for families with older children, because he can become quickly overwhelming to my 3-year-old with his rambunctious puppy play.

He quickly mastered leash skills. I was brave one day and walked all four dogs at the same time. He walked right with the pack! Otherwise his pulling is minimal and he's super excited to get to check out new things. We've been working on commands like sit and shake. In one of the pictures, you can see that he has very large paws, which indicates that he'll be a BIG dog! With good nutrition and health care, his coat is filling in nicely, and he is fluffy and soft! Like all young dogs, Kirk will need an adopter who is willing to commit to daily exercise and training. GSDs are large dogs, and patience and training are essential in their puppy years so they can grow up to be well behaved members of the pack. As much as we will miss him, it's time for Captain Kirk to explore the final frontier: a forever family of his very own!
