Charlie

Charlie’s story started with concerned citizens noticing him surviving alone on the streets. After nearly a month of patiently tracking him and trying to capture him, a professional was finally able to safely dart him for his foster to take him home.

What his foster later learned was heartbreaking — after Charlie’s owner passed away, he survived on his own for nearly 8 months.

Since being rescued, Charlie has slowly learned what it feels like to be safe, cared for, and loved again. This gentle giant wants nothing more than affection and companionship. He is incredibly loving, enjoys giving hugs and kisses, and simply wants to feel included and secure.

Charlie is calm, gentle, and has done great with children. He is also potty trained but prefers going #2 during walks rather than in the yard. He’s acquired a taste of the good life and has a few favorite things, including but not limited to:
🛏️ Cozy dog beds throughout the house
🌅 Early mornings for breakfast
🍗 Rotisserie chicken
🍽️ Wet and dry food mixed together
🐕 Long evening walks

Charlie is still adjusting to certain situations after spending so long in survival mode. He does not enjoy car rides yet, but will get into the car on his own. He will need slow introductions to other dogs and cats. So far he has shown curiosity toward the resident cat and does well calmly observing.

Like many shepherds, Charlie is smart and food-motivated. He is learning boundaries around food, as he has occasionally tried grabbing food from the kitchen counter. With consistency and redirection, he continues to improve with his foster every day.

Charlie has overcome so much, and is now looking for the perfect family to adopt him. That lucky family will gain an incredibly loving and loyal companion and Charlie will finally have a place to call home!
