Special Considerations for Adoption:  *Please read my bio

Hi, my name is Jolie and I have quite a story to tell. I was found in an abandoned house in the fall of 2015 with a large, gaping wound and a rope burn on my arm from being tied up. My wound could not be stitched due to the length of time it had been open and the size; but my wonderful foster mom, with a lot of tender loving care, treated my wound daily with poultices and dressing changes; she even made me a special cape to wear while my wound healed. Finally the day came when I was healed and 100%...or so we thought. Several months after my wound healed, on a routine examination it was discovered that I had a heart murmur that needed immediate attention/treatment. Off to Texas A&M I went. I had surgery in August of 2016. To make a long story short, I just had my followup this month, April, and the wonderful vet at A&M said I am ready for adoption and that I don’t have to take any special medication. I am so excited!

Some things about me: While waiting for the green light from A&M, my foster mom decided to enroll me in Basic Obedience; she recognized that I like to please, am a very good listener, and that I am highly intuitive. It turns out I am an excellent student!!! I passed with flying colors. (Did you see my graduation picture?!) The instructor said that I want to work, and that is true. I directed my full attention on my handler (who happened to be my foster mom), and everything went so smoothly. I would love to go to a home that will continue my training so I can reach my fullest potential. I promise I will make you proud and will most likely graduate with honors.

Other info about me: I live with a 3-year-old female boxer-bulldog mix and a 7+year-old male gsd-chow chow mix. We have been together since August of last year and get along well. I do have to tell you a secret, though. Because of my beginnings, having to fend for myself in an abandoned house, I do not trust new dogs instantly. I require the proper introduction, time, and patience. I may not be a dog you can take to dog parks, but there are so many other things we can do together.

Some of my favorite things: I love walking with my pack or with my foster mom when practicing obedience. My foster mom has an attachment on her bike where I can slowly jog or walk alongside, and this is truly one of my favorite things. Another favorite thing is when we have settled down for the evening and are watching TV, I often come out of nowhere and jump like a bunny right into my foster mom’s lap (I love surprising her!), where I quickly stretch out and relax and start snoozing, closing out my day knowing I am safe and loved.

If you think I might be a good match for you and your home, please fill out an application and ask for Jolie. I look forward to meeting you.

P.S. – Did I mention I am cat friendly? I am!!!
