Meet Hendrix! Hendrix is a unique dog with a big personality that matches his physical size. He is playful, goofy, a little clumsy at times, and a wannabe lap dog snuggler.

Hendrix has a long list of favorite things. Here are just a few: 1. Playing fetch – with anything – seriously, with anything 2. Carrying a tennis ball around in his mouth, and chewing on it like a piece of gum 3. Puddles, the deeper the better 4. Plunging his beautiful white coat into the little kiddie wading pool in his foster mom’s back yard. Is there anything better than laying in some cool water? Hendrix would say that only one thing is better – food! Hendrix has not met a food item or treat he did not like. No "five second rule” applies with this boy around. Because Hendrix is so easily motivated by food, we have been working on basic commands with regular kibble. Hendrix is a bright boy and wants to please, but he is young, and easily distracted. He will sit and do the down position, but getting him to stay is another story. He is always on the go. Hendrix walks well on a leash, and gets lots of admiring looks, petting, and adoration on our evening walks. He loves people, and people love Hendrix.

Gorgeous Hendrix is still a diamond in the rough. Having been a stray for a while, he never had the chance to learn the house manners that most dogs get to learn as puppies. Therefore, he is a jumper, and he LOVES to jump on you and “hug” you. He is not really rough, but with a very small child or older person, this could present a problem. This is one of the behaviors we are working on. Hendrix is being taught about personal space. He is truly a Velcro dog, and will follow so closely at times, that he steps on the back of his foster mom's shoe. We are working on boundaries. He has learned to be calm and he takes treats gently, so progress is being made. Also, Hendrix is house trained and crate trained. He is good with children and large dogs. He hasn’t yet met up with any small dogs, but there is a cat in residence at his foster home. Hendrix doesn’t try to harm the cat. He is just very curious about the cat. Hendrix is charming, goofy, loyal and affectionate. He is a happy, “go with the flow” kind of guy, and a wonderful companion dog. If you would like to meet him, please fill out an application and put his name on it. Hendrix would love to meet you, and give you a big hug!
