At 87 pounds, Fern (AKA Fernicus Rex) is a large GSD with a sweet temperament who LOVES car rides. She walks well on a leash and is house trained. She will crate but it wasn’t necessary in her foster home. Fern wants to be close to her foster humans but is also happy to chill outside in the yard to smell ALL THE SMELLS. A house with a secure yard for her is preferred, ideally with a doggie door. Her foster dad thinks she would do well in a home with other dogs as a member of a pack – generally we believe she is more of an easy going female so she may do well with male or female siblings on a case by case basis. She likes bones but doesn’t play with other toys much. She occasionally barks at people/dogs passing in the yard but responds well to verbal corrections. She will not work in a home with cats as she has a moderate prey drive, but she is gentle with children. Fern also has a good food drive and is a quick learner. Fern would do well with any confident owner.
