Checkers is a very friendly, beautiful boy who loves attention!  Checkers loves to cuddle with his humans.  He is great with other dogs AND cats, but prefers human interaction above all things.  He really does think that he is a lap dog!  Checkers is very sweet, and eager to please his humans, but has had very little training. He needs a moderately active owner, who is willing to provide the regular exercise and training that all German Shepherds need. He also needs an owner who is willing to care for a long coated GSD (which requires regular brushing to keep mats from forming).

He is currently in a loving foster home with three big dogs and a 9 week old puppy.  He gets along well with all the dogs, but his preferred place is next to the people who will pet him adoringly.  This sweet boy is a happy dog, and likes to play fetch - balls are his favorite thing to retrieve, but he will bring a squeaky toy back on occassion.  He pulls a little on a leash, but he so wants to please his people. He will be a fast learner.  He just needs some practice.

Checkers is a little underweight, after not getting the regular, high quality nutrition that German Shepherds need. This gorgeous boy is now getting a high protein, high calorie diet, to help him gain some much needed weight.  His luxurious coat hides his thin frame, but in a few weeks he will be back at an optimum weight of 65-68 pounds.  This sweet love bug really wants a family of his own.  Is that you?
