Welcome to Greater Houston German Shepherd Dog Rescue!

Greater Houston German Shepherd Dog Rescue (GHGSDR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We are a breed-specific group dedicated to the rescue of German Shepherd Dogs (GSDs); and do not knowingly accept mixed-breed dogs into our program. Our GSDs are obtained from public shelters where they are scheduled to be euthanized or they are given to us directly by their owners. All dogs receive the necessary health care, including spaying/neutering and are micro-chipped and then are placed in a foster home until they are adopted. Our dogs are guaranteed a place in our organization throughout their life. We provide information and education to the community with emphasis on the importance of spaying/neutering and heart-worm prevention, and we work with transporters, animal shelters and other rescue organizations to develop a better life for all GSDs.

I'm a shy young lady when you first me me, but once I know you won't yell at me, I will come right over to you. You can see what a talented butt-wiggler I am and I'll even smile for you. My foster mom was amazed at how well-behaved I am. She lets me have run of the house when she's away and I never get into anything I'm not supposed to. I spend much of my time trying to teach manners to my foster brother; a teenage GSD. He always wants to play, but I prefer a little downtime so I calm him down by cleaning his face. I think the older cat and kitten would like my facials too, but they don't seem interested in spending time with me, so I leave them alone. I'm potty trained and never had an accident at my foster mom's house. I found out I'm not allowed to be on the furniture, so I stay off of it, you don't have to tell me twice. When it's time to eat, I patiently wait to be served and prefer to enjoy my food instead of inhaling it.

My foster mom tells me I'm a joy to have with an irresistible personality, but I know I can't stay here forever. If you're looking for a low maintenance GSD, who is eager to please, I'm your girl!
