Welcome to Greater Houston German Shepherd Dog Rescue!  We are a 501c3 all volunteer rescue dedicated to saving as many German Shepherds in the Greater Houston Metro area as humanly possible - based on current resources of available foster homes, the rate at which we can find suitably matched adoptive homes, and of course, financial resources for veterinary care.

Check out our available dogs, then apply to adopt.  If you need to surrender your dog then please send an email with pictures, age, sex, and temperament of the dog to intake@ghgsdr.org.

GHGSDR Shepherds mostly come from animal shelters where they are awaiting euthanasia. All of these Shepherd Dogs need loving, forever homes and families to call their own. We have several GSDs available for adoption and we regularly take in more Shepherds under our wings and into our Rescue Program, increasing the numbers of dogs available for adoption. Whenever we can, we also work with other dog rescue groups in Texas and nationwide to help ensure the safety and security of these wonderful animals.

Also be sure to check us out on Facebook as well.

Dog Spotlight:

Hi My name is Flint .......

Flint is a sweet and energetic 1.5 year old male.  He is crate trained and house trained and rides well in the car.  He knows some basic commands such as sit and lay down, and his foster parents are working on teaching him to stay.  He loves to play with his foster sister, another GSD, and almost always has a ball in his mouth.  He is quick to warm up to new people, and often just follows his foster mom around the house (chewing on a ball, of course!)...
